Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential adviser, has blasted some All Progressives Congress (APC) officials for disregarding Vice President Kashim Shettima during an event to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement gathering in the North-East on Sunday devolved into chaos as key party members, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East zonal leader Mustapha Salihu, forgot to name Mr Shettima during their comments.
Delegates and party members at the ceremony were outraged by the exclusion and disrupted the program in protest.

Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), intervened to calm the atmosphere after he entered the podium and acknowledged the vice president.
Bashir Ahmad, an advisor to former President Muhammadu Buhari, responded to the episode on X on Sunday, warning that neglecting the vice president in such meetings could harm party unity.
He stated, “Those who intentionally cite President Tinubu’s name in the context of 2027 while conveniently omitting his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, are not functioning in the best interests of our great party, the APC.
“In politics, what is said and what is not said can be construed in a variety of ways. “We know it’s a BAT/KSM joint ticket,” he wrote.
