A night guard, Basiru Ojo, was yesterday , found dead in Igbaye, Odo-Otin Local Government, Osun State, following an incident that raises concerns over security in the area.
Sources indicated that Ojo, who was a member of the local vigilante group, was assigned to protect the home of a resident currently living abroad.
His body was discovered early morning, after he was reportedly attacked by assailants during the night.
“It happened at midnight, and he was discovered dead in the morning,” a source shared.
However, the police department has reported a conflicting account, suggesting that his death was sudden and natural cause.
Osun State Police public relations officer, Abiodun Ojelabi said that the incident occurred at Oke-Ola in Igbaye, stating that the deceased was found lying at his workplace.
“Fasasi Adebowale, a local resident, informed the deceased’s brother about the situation. The matter was reported to the police officers , who examined the scene for signs of violence,but found no such evidence,” Ojelabi explained.
He added that investigation has commenced and that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of his death.
