President Bola Tinubu has issued a direct order to top security agencies to hunt down and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the recent massacre and abduction in Niger State’s Kasuwan Daji community, vowing that they will face the full wrath of the law.
In a statement from the State House, issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu directed the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to track the perpetrators, rescue all abducted victims—mostly women and children—and ensure swift justice.
The directives came yesterday in response to the attack by terrorists suspected to be fleeing from Sokoto and Zamfara states after a United States air strike on Christmas Eve. The assailants killed several villagers and kidnapped others in the Kasuwan Daji community, heightening fears in vulnerable border areas.
Tinubu condemned the assault in the strongest terms, extending heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, the Niger State government, and its people. “These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice,” he declared.
He further mandated security agencies to ramp up operations around communities near forests long used as hideouts by criminal elements. The President assured Niger State residents of enhanced protection while urging all Nigerians to stay united against the threat.
“These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them, deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim the peace and security of these attacked communities,” Tinubu added, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could weaken national cohesion.
