Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu, better known as Ric Hassani, is a well-known singer who has stated that the trend of gospel performers transitioning to secular music is about fulfillment rather than money.
According to reports, Hassani started his musical career in the church but changed after realizing it wasn’t his calling, according to an interview with Hip TV.
According to him, many vocalists are destined for the secular music industry, and many musicians who began their careers in the gospel genre move to it because they lack the gift of ministry.
“Gospel is more than singing,” he declared. Being able to use music to interpret God’s words requires a certain kind of blessing. Katty Perry, for instance, could never convey God’s message through song in the same manner that CeCe Winans does. CeCe’s ability to convey the Holy Spirit via song is truly a gift, in my opinion. The manner Whitney Houston is blessed is distinct. Therefore, I disagree that everyone needs to attend church. For some of us, the globe was our destiny. Additionally, I have Christian tunes. I’m an extremely devout Christian. There is a gospel song on every one of my CDs. But I’m not really meant for it. With a different genre of music, I hoped to make a different kind of impression on the world. Mercy Chinwo or Frank Edwards will do it the way they will, and I will not. I’d fit right in if I started playing religious music now. I’m not into that.

“The reason why people switch from gospel to secular music is not financial. All people, whether they are creative or fortunate, enjoy having money. However, true fulfillment comes from being able to do it and living while doing it. Even the Burnas, the Wizkids, who own all the million dollars in the world… Given that he has all the money he could ever require, Davido has no business becoming involved if it was truly for money.
Therefore, money is not the main factor. Beyond financial gain, there is a sense of fulfillment that comes from coming up with an idea, recording it, and producing music. Money cannot buy you this kind of joy.
