Police nab 11 cultists in Delta

Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 suspected cultists and recovered weapons and other incriminating items from them.
The arrests and recoveries were as part of an ongoing intelligence-led crackdown on cult-related violence across the state.
The arrests followed recent cult clashes and killings in Ughelli and other parts of Delta State, which prompted the Commissioner of Police (CP), Aina Adesola, to order an intensified manhunt for cultists and other violent criminal elements.
In a statement, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) SP Bright Edafe , said,
in Ughelli, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested two suspects identified as Warri Ochuko, 40, of Orogun Community, and Lucky Okohwoake, 23, of Afiesere Community, both in Ughelli North Local Government.
” A locally made gun and four live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.The suspects made confessional statements during interrogation and provided intelligence that led to further coordinated operations within Ughelli metropolis.

” Six additional suspects were subsequently arrested. They are: Richard William, 28, of Uwheru Community; Onorode Pius, 27, of Otor-Udu Community, Udu LG; Sunday Jakpor, 20, of Orhunwhun Community, Udu LG; Victory Ogbemudia, 25, of Oleh Community, Isoko South LG; Raymond Arhiakpore, 39, of Agbara Community; and Precious Wanogho, 34, of Orogun Community.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and admitted involvement in the killing of one Alex Adanike, 37, who was reportedly murdered on January 15, 2026, at the Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli.

“In a related operation in Sapele, on January 26, 2026, CP-SAT operatives, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout at the Irapa area of the town and arrested three suspects.
“They are: Kome Temienoro, 25, of Jesse Community; Ogaga Omogene, 17, of Ugbuwe Community, both in Ethiope East LG and Biokoro Francis, 42, of Okogborode Community, Sapele LG.

“A search conducted in the premises led to the recovery of a wooden-carved pistol, a battle axe, a bulletproof vest, quantities of illicit drugs and other incriminating items. Police also recovered a white Toyota Venza vehicle believed to have been used for criminal operations.
” Profiling and further investigation of the suspects are ongoing to establish the full extent of their alleged involvement in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

” Commissioner of Police assured residents that the command remains resolute in its determination to eradicate cultism and violent crimes in the state. He urged members of the public to continue to provide timely and credible information, assuring them of strict confidentiality.”
