A businessman,Alhaji Akeem Osuolale has hailed the recent appointment of Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), describing it as a strategic move by the president ,aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force.
Chairman of Nigercat Nigeria Limited, Osuolale welcomed the decision, saying that the appointment reflects government’s commitment to strengthening security and improving professionalism within the police.
Osuolale said many Nigerians are optimistic that the new police chief will bring operational experience and leadership that can address the country’s growing security concerns.
According to him, the appointment comes at a critical time when citizens are demanding effective policing and decisive action against crime across the country.
Osuolale ,who is also a stakeholder in the security sector ,said “I really appreciate the step the President has taken.
The change in the police leadership is coming at the right time, and the person appointed is well qualified for the position,” he said.”
The investor expressed confidence that Disu’s background as an experienced police officer would translate into better operational effectiveness and improved security outcomes nationwide.
He stressed that the new IGP is widely regarded within security circles as a “real policeman” who understands operational policing and knows how to respond to security challenges decisively.
Osuolale predicted that Nigerians would begin to see meaningful reforms and improved policing within the first six months of Disu’s leadership.
“I am very sure he will perform and he will not disappoint Nigerians. Give him six months and you will begin to see the changes in the police.
” Disu’s career trajectory shows a consistent pattern of excellence. His wealth of experience positions him to tackle contemporary security challenges confronting the nation.”
He expressed confidence that under Disu’s leadership, the Nigeria Police Force would witness renewed vigour, enhanced operational efficiency and improved community relations.
He further said that the appointment has rekindled hope among Nigerians who desire a safer and more secure environment for businesses and families to thrive.
The estate developer noted that effective policing is critical to economic growth, stressing that a secure environment encourages investment, property development and overall national prosperity.
He also urged the new police chief to prioritize tackling the country’s worsening security situation, noting that effective coordination within the police hierarchy would be key to restoring public confidence.
Beyond general security, he highlighted persistent disputes within Nigeria’s land sector, warning that criminal elements often infiltrate land transactions while posing as legitimate agents or developers.
He called on the police leadership to pay attention to such issues, noting that many genuine land investors operate legally but are sometimes affected by fraudulent actors and violent land disputes.
“I am a land investor with all my documents. Many people present themselves as agents or developers, but some are criminals. Strong policing will help address these issues and protect legitimate investors,” he said.
According to him, he was impressed by Disu’s maiden speach saying that,”Everywhere in the world, we are aware that what we practise is intelligence policing. Our ears are to the ground.
“We know we have groups of people, different kinds of Islamic sects in Nigeria. We have those who pay allegiance to this eastern part of the world as well. So we know if anything happens in the eastern part of the world, the repercussions will come to us.
“So we are putting all necessary actions in place. You can see policemen on patrol, and most importantly, we are talking to them to ensure that they do not take the law into their hands.”
He concluded by reiterating his confidence that the new leadership of the police would strengthen law enforcement operations and improve security across the country.
According to him ,the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun is a riddance to some unwholesome practices in the police force .
