The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) has charged the newly appointed Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani to leverage on intelligence led policing.
The Association said that Lagos is a complex state that need intelligence led policing.
The Association has commended the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for this strategic and well-considered appointment, which is firmly anchored on merit, competence, and proven performance.
In a statement, CRAN President, Olalekan Olabulo,said,”This decision by the IGP reflects his confidence in CP Tijani’s professionalism, integrity, and capacity to lead, and aligns with the urgent imperative to strengthen policing and internal security in Lagos State, a megacity which complex population density, economic significance, and diverse security dynamics demand a policing leadership of exceptional skill and experience.
“CP Tijani is no stranger to policing in Lagos State, having served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, a role that has ultimately prepared him for the task ahead. His career exemplifies discipline, operational excellence, experience, and an unwavering commitment to service.
“As Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Lagos State, the new CP coordinated majority of the command’s crime prevention and fighting initiatives. His tenure in that role demonstrated exceptional operational and administrative leadership, crisis management capabilities, and dedication to maintaining law and order in highly challenging environments.
“His exposure and experience in Lagos security management, as well as in other commands and formations throughout his policing career, have equipped him with the expertise required to confront the security challenges of Lagos State.
“CRAN recognizes the magnitude of the mandate before the new Lagos Commissioner of Police and anticipates a renewed emphasis on intelligence-led policing, strengthened collaboration with other security agencies, enhanced officers’ welfare and discipline, expanded deployment of modern technology in crime detection and prevention, and adherence to the rule of law and respect for human rights.
