The Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has rescued nine foreign nationals and arrested two suspects linked to a transnational fraud syndicate. The suspects, Stephen Kwame and Abubakar Sulaimon, were apprehended at their hideout in Owode Egba, where they were holding the victims captive.

The victims, including a Ghanaian national, were lured to Nigeria with promises of travel to Europe and were being forced to pay ransom. One victim paid ₵31,000 before being rescued. The police have vowed to track down accomplices and bring them to justice.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives’ professionalism and urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with international travel agents. The Command has provided emergency contact numbers for reporting suspicious activities.
He reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for criminal activities and assured that all individuals linked to the syndicate would be brought to justice.

The police Boss also issued a public advisory, urging individuals seeking international travel opportunities to thoroughly verify the authenticity of agents and offers to avoid falling prey to fraudulent schemes.

The arrested suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
