
The Delta State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects involved in cultism/armed robbery.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, in a statement, said that on April 27, 2026, at about 11:30 am, on the directive of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, three tactical teams from the command stormed Best Lodge in Oko Community, a notorious black spot.
In the operation, the three teams, made up of Safe Delta, Operation Delta Sweep, and Operation Delta Shield, successfully arrested 14 suspects, – 13 males and one female.
Also, according to the statement, exhibits recovered at the scene comprised one locally-made cut-to-size pistol, three live cartridges, two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, four daggers, one cutlass, several mobile phones, and a cash sum of ₦133,100. Investigation is ongoing.
In a related development, on the same April 27, at about 2:00 am, detectives attached to the Operation Delta Shield, while on stop-and-search duty on Kingsley Street, intercepted a male suspect, 26-year-old Chidiebere Irunkwor.
A search was conducted on him, leading to the recovery of a locally-made cut-to-size pistol, two live cartridges, and a sum of 10 Euros.
Police preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect is a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
All the suspects, the statement added, are currently in custody, while investigations on the two cases are ongoing.
The state’s Commissioner of Police has reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain pressure on criminal elements through proactive policing and intelligence-led operations.
He, however, called on members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information, assuring that all information received would be treated with strict confidentiality.
