The tremendous efforts of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to restore peace, stability, and unity throughout the state have been praised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Tinubu made the statements while on an official visit to Kaduna, where he officially opened a number of important infrastructure projects meant to boost development and enhance the quality of life for the populace.

Among the projects commissioned were 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to revolutionize public transportation in the state, a 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Millennium City, and the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development in Rigachikun. In addition, President Tinubu declared that the Federal Government would support the development of a light rail project to improve Kaduna’s transportation system even more.

Tinubu said that Governor Uba Sani was a force for “change, stability, love, unity, and progress” and commended his leadership. He emphasized how Kaduna had been transformed by the governor from a state plagued by division and instability to one that today experiences comparatively stable and peaceful conditions. “You’re an effective leader. I’m glad to have Kaduna back, and I’m looking forward to working with you,” Tinubu remarked.

Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd), a former governor and June 12 campaigner, was given the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) during the visit, which Tinubu said was a correction to an earlier omission during Democracy Day celebrations. Additionally, Tinubu awarded Governor Uba Sani the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in recognition of his services to development and democracy.

The president recognized the role played by Kaduna’s traditional leaders in promoting peacebuilding initiatives. He commended the governor for changing the security environment, recalling the difficulties with security during the 2023 election campaigns, especially in Birnin Gwari. According to my records, you can now relocate to Birnin Gwari without worrying about anything, even at midnight, Tinubu said.

For supporting Kaduna’s security and development agenda, Governor Uba Sani thanked Tinubu. He noted that N100 billion was allocated in the 2025 budget for the Kaduna Light-Rail Transit, demonstrating Tinubu’s commitment to the state’s masterplan. Sani reflected on how Kaduna once grappled with insecurity and mistrust but emphasized that his administration, with federal support, had worked tirelessly to restore safety.

The event also featured tributes from former Vice President Namadi Sambo, who lauded Tinubu and Sani for completing the long-abandoned specialist hospital, and retired Gen. Zamani Lekwot, who described Tinubu as a God-fearing leader committed to Kaduna’s transformation. The ceremony was graced by governors from Lagos, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Ogun, Kwara, Delta, Nasarawa, Kebbi, Edo, and Jigawa States, along with top officials including the Deputy Senate President and the National Security Adviser.
