The Delta State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in the investigation of the murder of 31-year-old Alex Adanike, with the arrest of additional suspects linked to the crime.
The victim, a resident of Agbhara-Otor community, was reportedly shot and stabbed to death on January 20, 2026, by suspected members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger.
Police investigations revealed that the attackers had mistaken him for his twin brother, Okpako Adanike.
Earlier investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, who reportedly confessed to their involvement in the killing.
In a related development, a recent raid on identified criminal hideouts in Ughelli and Warri, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects, Tega Micheal, 26, and Tena Sagbene, 32.
The suspects were said to have been identified by those already in custody as members of the gang involved in the murder.
Police said all four suspects have confessed to the crime and were on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, arraigned before the Ughelli High Court, where they were remanded in prison custody.
The command reiterated the importance of proactive policing strategies, including intelligence gathering, raids, and stop-and-search operations, noting that such measures are critical in curbing criminal activities and maintaining public safety.
The Commissioner of Police commended officers for their sustained efforts in combating crime and assured residents that the command remains committed to making the state unsafe for criminal elements.
He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
