Police nab 3 suspects over murder of woman, 8 others in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and eight others.
The incident occurred at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters and Tudun Yola of Gwale Local Government (LG) of the state.
Commissioner of Police,Ibrahim Bakori said that the suspects were apprehended during a sting operation conducted between 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 4:00 a.m on Sunday.
Bakori explained that the alleged leader of the syndicate, a relative of the deceased, confessed to the crime and admitted involvement in other violent attacks, including the killing of two housewives in Tudun Yola Quarters.
The operation was conducted on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and coordinated by the Commissioner of Police in Kano State.
Bakori said that items recovered from the suspects, include: blood-stained clothes, two mobile phones belonging to the deceased, a cutlass, a club, cash allegedly taken from the scene, and other weapons.
He added that investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
The commissioner commended the officers involved in the operation, and thanked members of the public for their support and cooperation, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety.
Meanwhile, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the brutal killing.
He described the incident as barbaric, senseless and a grave assault on human dignity.

Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the entire Kano State, praying that Allah grants the departed eternal rest and gives their loved ones the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
He described the murder of a mother and her innocent children as unacceptable and vowed that his administration would not allow such a heinous crime to go unpunished.
The Governor has directed the Kano state Police Command to immediately hunt down the perpetrators and ensure they are arrested and prosecuted, warning that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
Governor Yusuf also ordered the Kano Neighborhood Corps to intensify patrols and community surveillance across vulnerable areas, as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots security and prevent a recurrence of such tragedy.
He called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious activities, assuring that the government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property..
