The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 33 suspected terrorists linked to the deadly attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
The suspects were nabbed by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team during coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi states.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid,disclosed this on Monday at the FID-IRT headquarters, Abuja, noting that the arrests followed investigations into the November 20, 2025 church attack.
Gunmen had stormed the church during an evening service, killing at least three worshippers and abducting 38 others, including the pastor. The incident, which was livestreamed, sparked nationwide outrage.
Police said the victims were later rescued through a joint security operation.
Placid said investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, homicide, and illegal arms dealing.
He added that items recovered from the suspects include: an anti-aircraft launcher, seven AK-47 rifles, magazines, 32 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, walkie-talkies, and other equipment.
“Operatives, acting on credible intelligence, carried out coordinated raids across multiple locations in Kwara and Kogi states, leading to the arrest of the suspects,” he said.
According to him, some gang members fled during the operations, abandoning weapons which were later recovered by the police.
He said efforts were ongoing to track down fleeing members of the syndicate and recover more arms.
The suspects are among 50 persons paraded by the police as part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks nationwide.
