The Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained inter-agency collaboration as part of efforts to address evolving security challenges in Lagos State.
This resolve followed a series of strategic visits by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, to key military formations, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Air Force.
During the engagements, Tijani emphasised that effective policing and security management in a complex and strategic environment like Lagos require seamless cooperation among all security and law enforcement agencies.
He noted that the Police and the Armed Forces must continue to operate in unity, guided by mutual respect, professionalism, and a shared commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the visits were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen existing working relationships and deepen operational synergy across agencies.
According to her, the Commissioner visited the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army at the Lagbaja Cantonment, where he was received by Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi. Discussions focused on reinforcing the longstanding partnership in internal security operations and sustaining joint efforts to ensure public safety.
At the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force, located at the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore M. A. Imam, hosted the Police Commissioner and his delegation. Talks centred on strengthening cooperation in intelligence sharing, professionalism, and coordinated operational responses.
Similarly, at the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft in Apapa, where Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu received the team, discussions highlighted the need to bolster collaboration in securing Lagos waterways and enhancing structured multi-agency coordination.
Tijani commended the consistent support the Lagos State Police Command has received from military formations, stressing that such synergy remains critical to combating crime, maintaining law and order, and proactively addressing emerging threats.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring a secure environment conducive to socio-economic development.
